On the occasion of World Stroke Day, KIMS-SUNSHINE Hospitals, Begumpet, conducted a comprehensive awareness programme focused on early recognition and timely intervention in stroke cases.

The session was led by Dr. Nageshwar Rao, Sr. Consultant Neurologist & Stroke Specialist, Dr. Nivedita Sai Chandra, Consultant Neurologist and Dr. Rajashekar Reddy, Sr. Consultant Neurologist. The experts emphasised the importance of the “Golden Hour”, the critical one-hour window after a stroke onset where timely treatment can significantly reduce brain damage and disability.

The team highlighted common warning signs such as sudden numbness, confusion, vision disturbances, dizziness and loss of balance. They stressed that swift diagnosis and immediate care especially thrombolysis or clot-busting treatment within 4.5 hours can save lives and improve outcomes drastically.

The programme saw active participation from medical staff, patients and attendants, who were educated on FAST (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) as a quick tool to identify stroke symptoms. The hospital reiterated its round-the-clock availability of a dedicated stroke response team.
